Search Engine Optimization

If you want to promote your business like never before, search engine optimization (SEO) can prove usefulness in endless ways. This process of stimulating positive effects on the visibility of a website or a web page in the unpaid results of search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing helps website owners reap the benefits of improved website traffic, sales, and economies of scale, profits, and returns on investments.

Search engine optimization techniques may be used to target a wide range of search, including local search, video search, image search, news search, academic search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. This process includes optimizing a website by editing HTML, content, and coding to improve relevance to specific keywords and eliminate barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.

Job hopping days ahead of India Inc

May 23rd, 2011 by James

Job hopping days ahead of India IncHuman resource (HR) recruitment firms expect hiring as well as attrition to go up in the coming months with the appraisal season at an end in India Inc.

V. Suresh, executive vice president and national head of sales,, said, “The period of appraisal is almost over for India Inc. So, in the next two months we will see aggressive hiring and many job switchovers as most companies are looking for expansion.”

“Hiring tends to slow down a little in the first quarter every year because of the appraisal cycle. We expect hiring to pick up again by June- July this year,” Suresh said, adding that it is not just the appraisal period but also the overall positive outlook of the economy that is creating many jobs, to the advantage of the employees.

Other honchos echoed Suresh’s views. “India Inc is going to see increase in hiring activity in the coming months, in almost all the sectors. In fact, as companies are working on thin profit margins, employees who are expecting good increments could be disappointed and go on a fresh job hunt. We expect much job hopping as well as fresh recruitment,” E. Balaji, managing director (MD) & chief executive officer (CEO), Ma Foi Randstad, a leading global recruiting firm said.

India Inc’s hiring activity witnessed a marginal decline in the month of April with most employees preferring to stay back in their current jobs expecting hikes, according to

US businesses hesitant to open in Mexico

May 20th, 2011 by James

US businesses hesitant to open in MexicoThe battle between drug traffickers and the army near the city of Monterrey in Mexico is threatening US businesses to stay away from Mexico.

Organized criminals are increasingly turning to kidnappings, extortion, and cargo thefts despite a government offensive against drug cartels and this has became a worrying fact for US businesses.

As a result, only half of the U.S. firms surveyed recently by the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce said they would go ahead with new investment plans in Mexico and several companies, including Whirlpool Corp., have recently announced they would put new factories elsewhere citing concerns about safety.

More than 35,000 people have died in drug-related violence since President Felipe Calderon deployed thousands of federal security forces four years ago to fight traffickers. In recent months, nearly 400 bodies have been pulled from mass graves in the northern states of Tamaulipas and Durango. There are near-daily reports of drug-gang executions, kidnappings and extortion.

The army said the Mattel workers were apparently caught in crossfire on May 6 when attackers believed to be working for the Zetas cartel assaulted a military convoy with guns and a grenade launcher from a highway overpass on the outskirts of Monterrey.

“The people of Mattel were shocked and incredibly saddened” by the attack, the company said in a statement released by spokesman Jules Andres.

But battles between government and cartel forces are increasingly common, and companies and their workers are inevitably affected.

“These acts of violence are not happening in a vacuum; they’re happening in the street that could be right out in front of your building. Bullets get shot and they have to stop somewhere,” said Dan Burges, a senior director at Freightwatch Inc., an Austin-based cargo security firm.

Business Help Sought by US To Leverage India-US Partnership

May 9th, 2011 by James

Business Help Sought by US To Leverage India-US PartnershipA top US official has said that businesses and governments in India and the United States could leverage their complementary strengths for developing solutions to many of the defining challenges of the 21st century.

The US Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake said at the Wharton India Economic Forum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania last week, ‘We see India as an indispensable strategic partner in the 21st century. The US welcomes the dynamic rise of India.’

Speaking on ‘India and the United States: A Strategic Economic Partnership for the 21st Century,’ Blake said the two governments need to match the ambition of their businesses.

‘Washington and Delhi must serve as catalysts for growth and innovation, but to do so we will continue to rely on the advice of our private sectors and our people,’ he said.

The full-spectrum collaboration between the two nations ‘promises to provide mutually inclusive growth and innovation for the people of India and the United States, and to deliver pioneering solutions and opportunities for millions of others around the world,’ Blake said.

The involvement of the business community in this collaboration is crucial, he said citing US Secretary of Hillary Clinton.

Clinton, he noted had written in a recent article in Foreign Affairs: ‘We can also leverage civilian power by connecting businesses, philanthropists, and citizens’ groups with partner governments to perform tasks that governments alone cannot.’

Blake said the joint responsibility of the US and India is increasingly seen as mobilizing responses to the world’s challenges.

Consider what you think justice requires, and decide accordingly.  But never give your reasons; for your judgment will probably be right, but your reasons will certainly be wrong.  – Lord Mansfield

Shareholders Should Cut BOA Audit Chief

May 2nd, 2011 by James

Shareholders Should Cut BOA Audit ChiefThe Bank of America Corp shareholders not reelect the head of the company’s audit committee at the May 11 annual meeting, according to a shareholder advisory firm.

ISS Proxy Advisory Services said shareholders should vote against the re-election of Charles Rossotti to the board of the largest U.S. bank by assets.

Institutional and individual shareholders often use the recommendations of advisory firms to help guide their voting decisions during corporate annual meetings.

ISS also recommended that shareholders vote in favor of seven of eight shareholder proposals on the proxy ballot. BofA’s board opposes all of the shareholder proposals.

ISS argued that Rossotti, a senior adviser at private equity firm Carlyle Group , is not a fully independent director because an immediate family member is a partner in a law firm BofA retains for legal services.

In a securities filing on Thursday, BofA said ISS recommended that shareholders elect Rossotti at last year’s annual meeting, even though his immediate family member held the same post and the relationship was disclosed in that year’s proxy statement.

The shareholder advisory firm recommended shareholders vote in favor of the 12 other directors standing for re-election.
